Wet & Dry
First thing I noticed on the plot was that all the rain has left the surface wet. However, once you go a couple of inches down the soil is surprisingly dry.
Tomatoes
I fed the toms from the comfrey barrel then decided to give the strawberry bed on plot 29 a feed as well. Added about 20 litres of water back to the barrel which is good ‘n’ smelly. I don’t know what I am doing with the tomatoes, the ones on the plot are weedy looking things compared with the ones in the home garden, yet the Roma outdoors are doing really well.
Potatoes
Harvested a few more Arran Pilot – I think a few more weeks will maximise the crop but it seems sad to buy potatoes when I have more than enough on the plot.
Green Manure Mustard
Cut the mustard with shears, which went on the compost bin and dug over the area. Doesn’t sound much for an hour of hard work but my back would disagree.
In the Greenhouse
All looks well in the greenhouse – the aubergine are doing really well and I had to stake the more peppers. Took two of the sideshoots off tomatoes and potted them – interested to see if they take. The idea is to have fresh plants producing later in the year, We’ll see,
