Digging the Plot, Shredded Paper to Compost

More Digging

The only jobs to do now actually on the plot are digging over, liming and topping up the leafmould cages. Liming will be done after digging and after I get a new meter as I think my old one is faulty.

I did take the kitchen bin and some shredded paper for the green compost bin. I don’t put meat scraps in but do compost paper, cardboard (including old egg boxes) and paper towels as well as anything green, teabags etc. It all goes back to the land for me.

Anyway, the leafmould cages were still full from the other day and the wind was biting cold so I got some healthy exercise digging over about 15 square yards in an hour or so at the bottom of plot 5. Half an hour spent putting boards to the side of the path on plot 29 and I’d had enough, so to home with a couple of small leeks to go with dinner tonight.
