Planting Field Beans as Green Manure

Fresh Leeks

Popped down late afternoon just to get a few leeks for tea. Some signs of rust on the leeks but they are doing OK. Leek and potato pie tonight, using Sarpo potatoes.

The weather was a bit of a contrast to yesterday’s sunshine. Grey and damp, spitting just enough to convince me that, if I got the rotovator out, it would pour down. So planted the field beans as a green manure on plot 29 instead.

I think the beans are about 3 years old so I sowed them thickly on the basis germination may be low.

May have been a grey day, but another job ticked off the list.
