Sowing Gardeners Delight and Garden Pearl Tomatoes

Freezing Rain

Well the weather hasn’t encouraged visits to the plot. Much as I may love it, freezing rain is not nice to work in.

As soon as the weather improves I have things to do but in the meantime I’m twiddling my thumbs.

For example, I could sow broad beans in pots but I don’t think I will gain much over direct planting.

The tomatoes sown on the 26th Feb have germinated well and the seedlings are about 2″ tall. So I have transplanted them into modules (15 to the seed tray), and they are still under plastic propogators in the front bedroom.

With tomatoes, I dib a hole nearly to the base and plant the seedling deep. It firms up the seedling and they seem happier like this.

I also sowed Gardeners Delight and Garden Pearl tomatoes today. I always start outdoor tomatoes a little later than greenhouse tomatoes.

The aubergine have germinated but no action from the peppers yet.
