Runner Bean Tipis and Repaired Grow House

Sunshine

The weather changed from grey to lovely this afternoon so loaded up the jalopy with 6 seed trays of peas and one of assorted beans.

The first job was to strengthen the growhouses, apparently they blew over the other day and the allotment rep re-built them. Replaced the 5′ canes with 6′ and stapled them to the shed roof. Gave them a a drink with added seaweed extract in the water and a foliar spray as well.

Then to the peas – the row of Dorian haven’t done well so weeded and then put the Dorian in modules to fill the gaps (more gaps than not!) – those left over made ? a row which I finished with the 5 Canadian Wonder dwarf French beans that germinated.

Then constructed the first bean teepee, 7 poles but only 2 plants (1 Relay and 1 Polestar) – the only runner beans having germinated, so far.

Foliar spray with SM3 seaweed extract and call it a day. Doesn’t seem much for 4 hours work but weeding takes longer than writing (OUCH!)
