Soil Warming Cloches for Sweetcorn and Pigeon Protection

The last few days have been busy but I managed a few hours on the plot, preparation.

To warm the soil ready for the sweetcorn, set up 5 cloches on plot
5. Converted the onion drying rack into more anti-pigeon defence by
fixing netting around the legs. This freed up 3 cloches, which were
being used as pigeon shields.

Potted on the Roma tomatoes as I’m not quite ready to plant them out
– need to free up more cloches first and get a few more empty pop
bottles that will be used to ensure water gets to the roots of the
tomatoes.

Next item was to plant out the comfrey cuttings to
fill the bed. Having one cloche spare, I covered a row to
ensure they get off to a good start.

Finally, mucho weeding and hoing –
need to keep on top of the weeds this year.
