Greenhouses so near yet so far
We dropped down to the plot around lunchtime and had the house square in ten minutes flat. I suppose that’s the difference between working tired and fresh. So it was time to glaze. The top lights were a bit tricky, needing three hands for maximum efficiency but eventually I managed to get them in with just two hands.
Glazed the back and front and that took me to half past four. Back home for a quick cup of tea then down to the glazier for 16 2 by 2s or 610mm by 610mm if you prefer modern metric measurements. Plus a 19″ by 24″ and a shaped piece plus taking 5mm off the side of some I had cut the other day. Just ?52.50, ouch! I also popped into Wilkinsons for yet more “W” clips.
Back home for another cuppa and a sandwich before returning to the fight. Finished glazing the second greenhouse except I’d meant to order two not one shaped pieces, so it is all done, door on and everything except for the last bit of glass.
I’ve still got some strengthening bars to put on the first greenhouse, a few bits of glass to fit and the door to work out. I estimate an hours work so it shouldn’t take more than two days.
I’ve got quite a bit to do on the plot as well as build greenhouses but the next few days had best be spent doing some work, some frantic emails need answering for starters.
In terms of cost I think these two greenhouses will end up costing about ?160.00, which isn’t too bad for a 10 by 8 and an 8 by 6. The new glass has cost ?85.50 in total, plus ?50.00 we paid for the first greenhouse and quite a few clips, bolts etc.
I might need to buy a set of wheels for the door of the large greenhouse, so maybe a few pounds more yet to go.
