Away Day to France
We’ve been away for a couple of days in France, our holiday for the year since we can”t leave our poorly cat for too long. Aside from the usual booze cruise stuff, I like to wander around the French DIY centres.
I noticed that some of the Le Paysan range of seeds are now coming in strips for easy sowing. They?re doing radishes on mats designed to be sown into a deep seed tray for growing on balconies as well. I don?t know why the French are so into radishes but they are.
I noticed some huge water butts as well. I think they were 300 litres and the price was 15 euros (about ten pounds) with a stand and lid coming in for the same again. I think they are encouraging people to use rainwater after the drought they had last year. Perhaps a lesson for this country, in that
A large range of Wolf tools included a seed sowing wheel. You put the seeds in and attach it to the handle then trundle up the row. I was tempted and now wish I?d gone for it – 35 euros and I think some offer that my French wasn?t up to.
The photo is Val by a 5.5 horse power rotovator with forward and reverse gears for 469 euros. Try getting a new rotovator in the UK for that!
I had intended to pull over on the way to the ferry and get a few pictures of the amazingly neat French allotments but we suddenly realised time had moved on and we were late to get the boat home so had to drive on by.
