Confusing Leeks and Onions, Jerusalem Artichokes

When is a leek not a leek?

When it is an onion!!

I was so pleased to mention I was growing some leeks from a prizewining strain and today I’ve been told they are actually onions. Well they were really tiny so I reckon it’s an easy mistake to make.

Greenhouse Improvements

I’ve not been too well today so didn’t head off to the plot even though the weather was just about OK. So I put my electrician hat on this afternoon. I now have a power socket in the home greenhouse. This means the electric propogators can go in there with maximum light as well as warmth.

The prediction is minus four tomorrow night so the heater will be back in play. Hopefully, so will I.

Jerusalem Artichokes

A really nice lady I met on an internet forum has sent me a box full of Jerusalem artichoke tubers, although the postage was a bit steep. They look like really nice tubers in great condition. My brother warns  me they are a bit windy!
