Allotment Vegetable Growing in February 2010
Potato Day in Mold, WalesWe went over to Mold or Yr Wyddgrug as the natives call it for a potato day. There were over 120 varieties to buy either in bags or by the tuber if you preferred. I was very good and just bought a couple of kilos of earlies! The full day is in my diary entry: Potato Day |
Green Living StandThere was quite an interesting stand at the potato day about green living. It was promoting energy saving, grow your own, avoiding waste. Nothing you'd get any disagreement from me about. I'd hoped to have a chat but it got really busy after I took this photo. |
Potatoes ChittingWell it's that time of year when the bedroom becomes the potato chitting room. It's unheated, so cool and north facing so it doesn't get strong sunlight. There's discussion about chitting in my diary. The flying cat is from my artist brother in law who has illustrated some of my books. |
Yet More SnowJust when you think it's safe to go out and start doing something in the garden down comes the white stuff again. It's been a tough winter and we've got used to mild ones in recent years. I'm just hoping the summer is good. This is our garden in the afternoon, it was about 3" deep all over in the morning but started melting quickly when it stopped falling! |
