Allotment Vegetable Growing in July 2004
The Garden - More TomatoesEvery time I went to the plot I forgot to take my camera, but I've got some shots of the garden. Tomatoes on the right in a growhouse, see Growing Tomatoes in a Tomato Grow-house (Mini-Greenhouse) There are strawberries growing in a pot in front of the cold frame which is not in use now. At the front is our black compost bin. We actually make more compost than we can use in the garden but that's not a problem with 2 hungry allotment plots to feed. |
The Self-Built GreenhouseI decided to build my own greenhouse. So purchased twinwall polycarb and wood. Took me ages and cost about £160.00. Half way through building it a lean-to greenhouse was advertised 2nd hand in the paper for £30.00. I think mine is better. If I could set the clock back.... |
The Patio & Container PlantsWell, you need to feed the soul and being surrounded by flowers doesn't do any harm. The flowers are all my wife's work When we moved in the garden looked more like a prison exercise yard but now it's somewhere to sit out in and enjoy. |
Looking down the GardenThe raised bed in the centre is fairly new and filled with annuals. Later we plant some shrubs in it which adds a verticle dimension to the garden and makes it feel larger too. The side borders have a lot of things in pots too which were replaced by shrubs in later years. |
