Douce Provence are ideal for spring, summer, autumn, and protected over-winter sowings, this variety yields a plentiful crop of sweet and succulent peas. Easy to cultivate, it does not require staking. Sow seeds from October to December and again from February to July, with harvests possible from May to October.
For a continuous supply, sow seeds every two weeks, whether for spring or autumn plantings. o plant, sow seeds directly into finely raked, moist, warm, and weed-free soil, spacing rows 20cm (8″) apart. Plant seeds at a depth of 5cm (2″) and lightly cover them with soil.
Germination typically occurs within 7-14 days. As seedlings emerge, gradually thin them to 5cm (2″) apart. This variety doesn’t need canes for support. If growing over winter or in early spring, protective fleece or cloches are recommended. Make successive sowings to ensure continuous crops. From sowing to cropping, expect a timeframe of 12-16 weeks.
