I was tipped to the Crimson Crush tomato cultivars by Dr David Shaw, an expert on blight at Bangor University. Bred by Simon Crawford at Bangor the tomatoes are more than blight resistant. Even when blight strikes the plant keeps growing and fruiting
Bred to grow outside, but they’ll perform very nicely in a greenhouse or polytunnel.
Crimson Crush fruits well, producing heavily laden trusses with large individual tomatoes, often up to 200gr each. Better still, they’ve an excellent flavour with a slight acid bite. A proper tomato flavour. Excellent for salads or sandwiches as well as cooked.
For my money, one of the best tomatoes to grow whether organically or conventionally.
Indeterminate or Cordon variety – will need staking or stringing and side shooting.
There’s a lot of information on the site about growing tomatoes
