Featuring attractive copper-skinned, globe-shaped roots and vibrant orange-hued flesh that retains its brilliance even after cooking, this variety harks back to the 1820s or earlier.
Known for its light and sweet taste, many prefer golden beets over their red counterparts. The roots exhibit a fine texture and maintain tenderness even as they grow larger. With a delightful sweet flavor, golden beetroot enhances the color of meals, whether boiled or pickled. The tender young leaves are also edible, offering versatility in consumption—raw, steamed, or stir-fried.
Cultivation Tips
Suitable for various soil types, although sandy soil is particularly beneficial. Avoid freshly manured soil, as it may lead to forking. Optimal conditions include an open, sunny location.
Sow from March to July, with the option to sow successively throughout the season for a prolonged harvest.
Enhance germination by soaking the seeds in warm water for an hour before sowing. Plant seeds thinly in rows spaced 30cm apart. Lightly cover with 2.5cm of soil, firm gently, and water carefully. Expect seedlings to emerge within 7-21 days.
