Greek Basil Seeds

Greek Basil boasts a tight, compact growth pattern characterized by its dark, miniature leaves. These small leaves offer a subtler and sweeter flavor compared to its Italian counterpart, making them ideal for garnishing dishes and preparing salad dressings.

Perfect for containers or a sunlit windowsill, Greek Basil is a tender, leafy herb with a delightful aroma that thrives in sunshine. While it can grow outdoors in the UK if protected from strong winds and provided ample sunlight, young basil plants may benefit from some shade during the hottest part of the day, as intense mid-day sun can be overwhelming for them.

In spring, sow seeds in a 3-inch pot filled with moist potting compost, allowing approximately 5 seeds per pot. Lightly cover the seeds with compost and position the pots in a bright and warm area, avoiding direct sunlight. Typically, germination occurs within 10 to 21 days. Ensure the compost stays moist by watering from below. After around three weeks, carefully remove the smaller and weaker seedlings, leaving the three strongest plants in each pot to continue growing.
