Kiwi Fruit

Kiwifruit can be grown successfully in the UK so long as you have plenty of space and a sunny spot. Despite the ‘kiwi’ name suggesting they come from New Zealand, they are actually from southern China originally. Nowadays most kiwifruit sold in the UK comes from Italy.

Jenny

A hardy, easy-to-grow climber which will give good crops in the UK, grown on a trellis, arch or pergola in a warm spot, or on a south-facing wall. Plants are very attractive but quite vigorous, and should be pruned to keep them in check. Jenny is a self fertile.

Geneva (Female)

Delicious honey-like taste Prolific crops of red-flushed berries in the autumn, which are delicious eaten straight from the vine. The fruit hang in clusters very similar to grapes and boast a sweet, honey-like taste. Needs to establish for up to 4 years for maximum crops. Requires a male for pollination. Supplied in a 5 litre pot.

Maskulino (Male)

Ideal choice for a smaller garden An attractive climber, Maskulino boasts a long flowering season (from mid May through to the end of June) making it an ideal pollinator for our female Kiwi Berries. Supplied in a 5 litre pot.

Summerkiwi Adam (Male)

Small lemon-scented blooms on a spectacular climber Not only is Adam an excellent pollinator for our female summerkiwi, it's also a spectacular climber in its own right. It produces its small, lemon-scented blooms in May, together with attractive, green-and-white leaves, which, in June, develop a breathtaking pinkish-red colour. (Foliage colour appears 2-3 years after planting and develops best in full sun.) Supplied in a 5 litre pot.

Kiwi Plant - Jenny

Hardy, easy-to-grow climbers which will give good crops in the UK, grown on a trellis, arch or pergola in a warm spot, or on a south-facing wall. Plants are very attractive but quite vigorous, and should be pruned to keep them in check. Jenny is a self-fertile variety - ideal if you only have room for one plant. It has very attractive red-tipped early growth, and its small, sweet fruits are freely produced in late summer. Supplied in a 3 litre pot.

Kiwi : Hardy Kiwi

These kiwifruit are delicious eaten hole and don't need to be peeled! The fruits are generally green, with very thin 'fuzzless' skin and are the size of grapes. Cut open, they look much like regular kiwifruit with small black seeds, emerald green flesh with the typical 'rayed' pattern. Hardy kiwifruits are generally sweeter than regular varieties with sugar levels ranging from 14% (as with regular kiwifruit) to 29%.

Kiwi : Hayward & Tomouri

Hayward is one of the best traditional varieties to grow in the UK, because it flowers later in the season and produces a heavy crop of large fruits with superb flavour. Hayward is a self sterile female plant so it must be planted next to a male plant to provide pollen in order to produce fruit.

Kiwi : Jenny

Jenny is the only self-fertile variety in cultivation. Vigorous, hardy plants produce large attractive red-tipped early growth and a heavy crop of small (walnut sized) very sweet fruits in late summer. Ideal if you only have space for one of these spectacular climbers in your fruit garden.
