Snowball turnip is a superior variety which can be continuously harvested from early summer through mid-winter. With its high yield and exceptional sweetness, it’s ideal for early autumn dishes.
Sow directly outdoors from April to August for optimal results.
Turnips thrive in rich, well-manured soil, although they can also grow in ordinary fertile soil enriched with ample well-rotted compost. Sow seeds successively from spring to mid-summer, planting them 1cm (0.5in) deep in rows spaced 30cm (12in) apart. Once seedlings emerge, thin them out to a spacing of 10-15cm (4-6in) apart to promote healthy growth.
