Lovely large, well filled cobs even in marginal locations like our exposed, chilly hillside here in N Wales. The compact plants are stocky and tough enough to resist high winds.
They’re fast too – usually ready to start harvesting from mid-August through September.
Cultivation Tips
For early sowings, consider starting seeds in modules under cover. Allow the seedlings to grow until the last threat of frost has passed, then harden them off before planting them outdoors. As the season progresses, opt for direct sowing in the desired location, arranging the seeds in a grid pattern with 45cm between plants. Harvest the cobs when the tassels have turned brown.
