Ingredients for Oh No – Marrow!:
- Marrow
- Flour
- Egg
- Breadcrumbs
Method for Oh No – Marrow!:
- Cut a marrow into slices about ½” thick. Cut off rind and remove seeds.
- Flour each piece and quickly dip in a lightly beaten egg.
- Dip into breadcrumbs to coat.
- Fry until golden colour.
- Keep hot in oven until needed.
Note: The grandchildren will actually eat these with a poached egg in the centre or with stewed apple and ginger and quick poached bacon bits to top.
Marrows are one of those vegetables that we rarely see in the shops, as growers we can relish the flavour. This recipe may convince you to grow even more of marrows!

Wow, what a great recipe and I like the title too! Every time I heard of a marrow recipe, it’s usually with cheese. I’ll have to try this with all the marrow we’ve been harvesting from our allotment. Thanks!
I tried this on my 2 year old daughter and wife, who both ate it, but the amazing thing was the dog. For 8 years has shown his ability to eat everything on a plate except courgettes – he will eat a stew but leave the courgettes licked clean on the side of the plate. This time the dog ate all the leftovers without even blinking. Incredible!
