Watering and Controlling Horsetail or Marestail

Watering and Weeding

Down to the plot around 5pm. My new rain gauge tells me that yesterdays rain didn’t even register so I gave plot 29 a good dousing.

Whilst soaking everything, I thought it time to deal with the horsetail that’s creeping back. The odd spike pops up in the beds, but I usually just pull those with as much root as I can get out; the paths, however, are a different matter. The horsetail is popping up all over them, it’s roots sneaking along underground from the plot next door and from any little bit that has escaped my previous culls. So mixed up the Amicide and sprayed away. I use a sprayer rather than a watering can, which is far more economical. Amicide is pretty expensive but it does the job well.

With horsetail you need to keep on top of it or it runs rampant and makes a complete takeover.
