This superb kohlrabi will provide a good harvest of attractive, flavoursome purple bulbs. Plants hold well in the garden. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner. In flavour, midway between cabbage and turnip, the edible portion is the swollen stem just above soil level. Best eaten at 'golf-ball' size.TOBY'S TIP: Increase your watering as the stems begin to swell for the best quality and harvest when between golf and tennis ball size.

Kohlrabi Seeds - Superschmelz

This variety is a gigantic Kohlrabi, growing to a whopping 20-25cm (8-10) across and weighing up to 4.5kg (10lb)! Regardless of its size, the roots will stay tender and sweet, without going woody like some other varieties. Make sure to give this monster 30cm (12) between plants and 60cm (24) between rows. Providing a rich soil and constant moisture will make sure Superschmelz grows to its super size. You can use the leaves in salads or as a spring greens. The root is delicious grated as a coleslaw, or added to casseroles, stir-fries, soups, or simply cooked like turnip with lashings of butter.
