Strawberry Plants

Strawberries are short-lived. After three years, dig out the old plants and replace with new, planting in a different position or into new soil. Or, start a second new bed in year two for continuous harvest.

Patio Kit

With 10 healthy Elsante Strawberry Plants which will fruit this year, and a multi-pocket planter bag to grow them in, you can look forward to a tasty harvest from mid June and continuing through to mid July. The planter is made from tough woven polyethylene, has 8 side pockets to plant into (plus 4 plants in the top) and measures 35cm (14") diameter x 45cm (18") high.

Elegance - An exciting mid to late season strawberry, bred at HRI East Malling, which was the highest yielding variety in 2008/2009 trials. Berries are firm, conical, glossy orange/red, sweet and juicy.

Sweetheart - Who could resist these sweet, juicy, dark red berries? Ready for picking from June, the small, conical fruit are aptly named as the berries strike the perfect balance between sweetness and acidity, making them extremely moreish. The compact, heavy-cropping plants show good resistance to a number of diseases.

Flamenco - This superb strawberry will give you a regular supply of strawberries throughout the summer. British bred, it produces a good crop of large, bright red, deliciously flavoursome fruit. Equally tasty eaten fresh from the plant with cream or sugar, or for making jam. Why not grow a few plants on the patio and enjoy them freshly picked! Everbearer variety.

Malwina - What makes this strawberry unusual is the distinctive bright red flesh - it's much richer in colour than traditional varieties. The mouth-watering, conical-shaped fruit are large, juicy and packed with flavour. A mid season variety from East Malling, a leading breeding station in Europe and England's jewel in the crown for horticultural research. Superb flavour, uniform, beautiful conical shaped berries with good colour. Strawberry 'Cambridge Favourite' - The enduring popularity of Strawberry 'Cambridge Favourite' has made it one of the most well-known and best-loved varieties available. This mid-season strawberry produces a bumper crop of juicy orange-red fruits with an excellent flavour and texture from June to July. This superb variety is reliable and tolerant of most situations.
Strawberry 'Florence' - Ideal for a late season harvest producing delicious sweet strawberries from the end of June to the end of July. A prolific cropper with exceptional pest and disease resistance.
Strawberry 'Flamenco' - Try growing this ever-bearing variety to maximise your crop of delicious sweet and juicy fruits over a long picking period. From only 12 mature plants you will be able to harvest a bumper crop of 10kg (22lb) of fruit in one cropping season from mid May until November.

Strawberry : Flamenco

A very versatile variety suitable for growing the traditional way in the garden, as well as making it the perfect variety for container growing, as it will transform your patio into a very productive fruit garden. One of the leading commercial early varieties, with bright red, very firm fruits of superb quality and flavour. Excellent variety for making your own jam or for freezing to enjoy when out of season. 12 bare roots.

Strawberry : Irresistible (EM1294) - Plants

Enjoy an all summer harvest of garden fresh strawberries. With high levels of sugar and vitamin C, Strawberry Irresistible is simply the sweetest strawberry you'll ever grow. It was originally bred for the supermarket trade but the fruit was found to be too tender to withstand transportation. A truly exceptional variety for home gardener use only. Fruits stand well and grow well in the garden or in containers.

Strawberry : Irresistible (EM1294) - Runners

In recent extensive commercial trials T&M found Irresistible had the best flavour out of all the strawberry varieties tasted. Vigorous dark green plants will produce glossy, good shaped large berries with a large calyx and an exceptional sweet and juicy flavour.

An exciting mid to late season variety, bred by Dr David Simpson at East Malling, which was the highest yielding strawberry in 2008/2009 trials. Elsanta 60 Day Runners

A superb strawberry that produces masses of glistening, aromatic bright orange-red fruit with a superb taste. These strawberries are medium to large sized and store well. Although first on the market over 25 years ago, it is still one of the most widely grown varieties in the UK. 12 runners.

Gariguette - This very old and much-loved French variety is prized by leading chefs for its wonderful scent and outstanding flavour. The elongated orange-red fruits are soft and juicy and have the most intense, sweet, aromatic flavour. They are so fragrant that when in season they perfume the markets in Provence with the most heavenly scent and simply taste fantastic! The only downside is that compared to today's modern varieties, the plant lacks vigour and yields are low.
Frau Mieze Schindler - Is the most popular variety across much of Europe because the flavour is out of this world! Sweet and succulent - not watery or dull. The fruits are so soft and delicious that they are unsuitable for transport, so this variety has never even stepped foot inside a supermarket.
Manille - Raised from a cross between Gariguette and a selection with Mara des Bois in its pedigree, it is little surprise that this new French variety has outstanding flavour. The berries have a distinctive aroma and the flavour is incredibly sweet. The plants are heavy cropping and have good resistance to powdery mildew, verticillium wilt, crown rot and red core.
Honeyoye - Consistently bears heavy yields of large, beautiful,crimson fruit. Rich color carries over into jam and wine. Disease resistant and easy to grow. Self-pollinating.
Snow White - A vigorous selection, producing attractive, medium-sized, uniform, conical berries. It was the sweetest strawberry in our trials this year. The earliest strawberry we offer, cropping outside from the first week in June, and from mid May under cover. The strawberries are large, firm, extremely juicy and sweet! Easy to grow, with good pest and disease resistance. 12 plants.

Albion (Fragaria)

Plants are moderately resistant to Verticillium Wilt and highly resistant to Crown Rot, and will produce up to 1 lb of mouthwatering strawberries per plant each year! Crops from June to October in several flushes. An ideal variety for containers on the patio too. 10 plants.

Anablanca

Originating from a very old strawberry discovered in 1758, Anablanca strawberries are white with a very pale pink tinge. Delicious fresh or for jam-making, they are medium-sized, and boast firm, sweet, juicy flesh with a flavour that has nuances of pineapple (hence the common name of Pineberry). The hardy plants have foliage that is evergreen in mild climates, and are early cropping, providing tasty pickings throughout May and June. Early season variety. 12 plants.

Flamenco

This superb strawberry will give you a regular supply of strawberries throughout the summer. British bred, it produces a good crop of large, bright red, deliciously flavoursome fruit. Everbearer variety. 12 plants.

Mount Everest (Everbearer/ All Season)

A unique climbing strawberry! This fast, strong growing variety will produce runners up to 1m (39) in length that make a real talking point when trained up a trellis or obelisk climbing frame, or cascading from window boxes and hanging baskets. Better still, Strawberry 'Mount Everest' is an ever-bearering variety that produces a delicious crop of medium sized, sweet, juicy fruits from June right through to September! Height: 1m (39). Spread: 30cm (12).

Buddy (Everbearer/ All Season)

Finally, an ever bearing strawberry with all the sweetness of a June bearing variety! Supermarket favourite, Strawberry 'Buddy' has it all - heavy crops, quality berries and a fabulous, sweet flavour, even in hot weather. Bred at world renowned East Malling Research centre, this exciting new strawberry variety will provide a continuous supply of large, deep red berries from late June through to October. Height: 20cm (8"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Finesse (Everbearer/ All Season)

Bred by the research centre at East Malling, Strawberry 'Finesse' is a brand new ever-bearing strawberry offering gardeners the very best in fruit quality. With its high yield, superb flavour and robust disease resistance, this is an exceptional variety. Berries are heart-shaped, bright red, firm and juicy with a fabulous sweet flavour producing up to 1.2kg of fruit on long trusses making it quick and easy to harvest. Unlike other varieties, Strawberry 'Finesse' puts all its vigour into producing a vigorous plant and a good crop, with very few energy-sapping runners. Height: 20cm (8"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Anais (Everbearer/ All Season)

The aromatic, sweet fruits of Strawberry 'Anais' are some of the best that you will taste, but the only way that you will find out is to grow your own. This exceptionally flavoursome ever-bearing variety is generally rejected by the supermarkets as its thin skins make it unsuitable for commercial packing. But with yields of up to 1.2kg of unusual orange coloured fruits, it's simply too good to ignore. Height: 20cm (8"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Christine (Misted Tip) (Early Season)

An early season variety, Strawberry 'Christine' produces large, juicy sweet fruit from disease resistant plants. Cropping periods can also be brought forward or extended if you are growing them in a greenhouse or polytunnel. Height: 20cm (8). Spread: 30cm (12).

Florence - 12 plants

A late season variety producing prolific crops of large, sweet, dark red fruit from the end of June to end of July. Bred by HRI East Malling.
