Fig Trees

Hardy varieties of figs will easily grow throughout the UK right up to the north of Scotland.

An ideal plant for container growing. Root growth restriction encourages the fruiting, so if you wish to plant your fig outside, use some manner of restricting the root size such as setting the potted plant into the soil, or grow it in a smallish box, or ‘box in’ the root area with pieces of slat or patio stones.

Fig Morena

Heavy crops of large fruit A first-class fig producing heavy crops of large, pear-shaped fruit with purple-green skins and sweet, juicy flesh that's ideal for jam-making. Harvest from mid Autgust to late October. Supplied in a 5 litre pot.

Fig Rosetta

Mouth-watering fruit An early-maturing and prolific-cropping fig, whose large, mouth-watering fruits initially turn yellow-green, before eventually turning completely red. Harvest from mid August to early October. Supplied in a 5 litre pot.

Fig Brown Turkey (Standard Tree)

Attractive foliage and delicious fruit Brown Turkey is the most reliable fig for the UK climate and in late August to mid September produces a heavy crop of purple-brown fruits with sweet red flesh - harvest and enjoy!

Fig Tree - Brown Turkey - Standard

Brown Turkey is the most reliable fig for the UK climate and in late August to mid September produces a heavy crop of purple-brown fruits with sweet red flesh - harvest and enjoy! Plants are very vigorous and growth should be limited by restricting the roots to a large container (which will also encourage fruit formation). If you want to grow a fig as a traditional shaped tree on the patio, our beautiful 'standard' plants (pictured) are ideal. Attractive trees with enormous hand shaped leaves have medium vigour making them ideal for growing in containers. Produces a heavy crop of medium sized pear shaped fruits with the sweetest of flavours.

Califfo Blue

An extremely productive fig, producing a bumper crop of large, luscious bluish-purple, red-fleshed fruit. Harvest from early September to early October. They're vigorous plants, so growth should be limited by restricting the roots to a large container (which will also encourage fruit formation). Alternatively they can easily be trained on a wall and pruned to fit the required space. Strong-growing and quick to start fruiting and, once mature, will withstand the coldest winters.

Violette de Bordeaux

Fig 'Violette de Bordeaux' is a particularly hardy variety. Dating from around 1680, itwas found to thrive in Versailles gardens during the cold winter months. The small, purple black figs have a marvellous perfume and a lovely sweet flavour. Fig 'Violette de Bordeaux' produces two crops per year, and if protected over winter the second crop will ripen early during the following summer. Height: 3m (9'). Spread: 4m (13').

Madeleine des Deux Saisons

Dating back to ancient Versailles in the reign of Louis IV, Fig 'Madeleine des Deux Saisons' is particularly hardy and remains a worthy garden variety. With delicate pink coloured flesh and an exceptionally sweet flavour, the fruits are delicious eaten freshly picked. Literally translated as Madeleine of Two Seasons, this productive variety produces two crops per season during hot UK summers and if protected over winter the second crop will ripen early during the following summer. Height: 3m (9'). Spread: 4m (13').
