Ingredients for Moru:

  • 1 pint buttermilk
  • 1 inch piece of fresh ginger crushed
  • 2 green chillies well chopped
  • 1 medium onion finely sliced
  • Curry patha (leaf)
  • Little salt to taste.
  • Pinch of jeera (cumin powder) and dhania (coriander powder)

Method for Moru:

In a large jug blend all the ingredients together. Chill for a while then serve with a garnish of curry patha, pinch of jeera and dhania.

Notes:

This is one of the most refreshing drinks you can imagine. From Kerela in South India it is regularly served at Good Earth Pottery, Alibag. Bombay.

Worth a trip across the water from The Gateway of India to Mandwa just to sample it.
