Some beautiful weather has given me the chance to get a lot done outside. It's easy to forget it's early spring and not midsummer.
As we get older we get stuck in our ways and on that basis I must be getting younger! The fact is I've had to change quite a few of my ways recently.
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the trees are beginning to bloom which can only mean it’s time to resurrect your garden.
A few days of good weather and we're getting ahead with the jobs. The Texels are back so we know spring is definitely here.
A cheap Chinese thermostat controller for my propagators - but does it do the job? Sowing a new leek developed by champion grower and moving the peppers on
From now, spring or vernal equinox, until the autumn equinox the days will be longer than the nights in the Northern Hemisphere.
The weather has been on and off but we've made a fair bit of progress on the plot. Things are moving faster now and we're looking forward to a good season.
Some thoughts on no-dig versus digging as rain halts double digging of the new veg plot. Sowing broad beans and bunching spring onions.
Looking at my new Geopod propagator, how much does it cost to run horticultural lights and is it worth it. Plus the aftermath of Storm Doris
We've survived storm Doris with very little damage but it was a close run thing with the greenhouse which I thought I was going to lose at one point.
A seed potato fell under the bench. A year later it was planted out into pots and amazingly not only did it grow but also produced some tubers!
I'm trying a Japanese hand hoe and a British long handled planting trowel out, planting garlic and work continues on the new walled vegetable plot.
Finished planting up the orchard with 2 damsons, seeds germinating really well in the propagators and a massive storm blows and blows
Stormy weather, mending damaged propagators and sowing seeds ready for the new season. Making use of the growlights on the Geopod.
Our site sponsor, Harrod Horticultural, have come up with a fantastic offer for us. It's literally 'first come, first served' When its gone it's gone.
It may be early in the season but not too early with the polytunnel and propagators equipped with grow lights to start sowing and planting
Some good weather has let us get cracking - the polytunnel is ready to plant and the path to it is finished. Getting ready for the poultry
Taking advantage of the weather to crack on with jobs ready for next year. New path half way there, polytunnel coming along and loads of other jobs
Planting out heritage Welsh fruit trees along with elderberries and yet more rowans. The crab apples seem a little small, so a year of pampered pot growing.
