Vegetable Growing in July

I’ve popped up another article for July in my Month by Month Gardening series. One thing I’ve noticed from the forums is that people taking on a plot mid-year are often unsure about what  they can plant. Hopefully this series will help them. It’s difficult for new gardeners to know what vegetables they can sow later in the year.

The plots are full of produce – except where they are flooded out! – and it seems that they’ve missed the boat (no pun intended) but there is a lot that can go in yet.

One point I do make is that there is no set date in gardening. Everything depends on where you are and how the weather is. This year June has been a perfect example of this.  It started as ‘Flaming June’ and then decided to become a monsoon.  Goodness knows what July will bring for us. Knowing how things run in this country, we’ll probably have a hosepipe ban by August.

Well, assuming the weather decides to behave properly, it should be helpful.
