Started Harvesting Potatoes

Harvesting Potatoes

Well I started harvesting the potatoes on Monday afternoon. The bed on plot 29 had produced a lot haulm but it’s what is under it that matters. Well, I dug up about half the bed and it came to two wheelbarrow loads. Some slug damage, but not too much.

Took the potatoes into the small greenhouse, after scattering some slug pellets and laying down a sheet and put them to dry out and harden a little.

The plan was to return on Tuesday, but that didn’t happen as I had a rush job on and had to get it finished as promised.

Wednesday I played chauffeur and took M’Lady to see her Dad, so that was out. Thursday was a visit to the hospital and great news, her plaster has been removed and shortly life will be back to normal.

Friday it rained so that was out.

Saturday was a lovely day and we visited my relatives in Oxfordshire as planned for weeks.

Today (Sunday) it poured with rain so it looks like the spuds will have to come up later in the week.

All I need is a week of dry weather and no work to get up to date!
