Controlling Marestail or Horsetail Weed

Marestail or Horsetail

Doesn’t matter if you call it mairstail, horsetail or equisetum arvense, it is a little like the terminator, it comes back. Actually it is not too bad, the beds are clear but it was coming up on the paths on plot 29.

So mixed up some Amicide and sprayed it, being very careful to avoid plants. The potatoes are about 3 feet to the side of their bed, blocking the main path and blocking access to one side of the deep beds. The pumpkin is also over the path. In fact the pumpkin is acting like something from a cheap sci-fi film, determined to take over the world.

Bit of general weeding then back home as two hours in the sun without a drink or hat and I had a raging thirst and a headache. 2 pints later – it was water – back around to drop of some garden waste for the compost bin.

Then back home to tour DIY sheds looking at a new front door. It’s hard being a husband sometimes.
