Compost Bin and Storm Damage

The mystery deepens…

The first task was to tour the site and find my missing compost bin. No luck. It seems hard to believe it has just blown away off the site but if someone nicked it, why leave the lid?

I took a few photos of the storm damage while I was at it.

Harvested some leeks, parsnips and carrots. The leeks are great but the carrots are mediocre and have kept a few slugs going. They should have been thinned a bit more as well. Pretty forked due to the heavy clay.

As with the carrots, the parsnips are suffering from heavy soil and not having been thinned out properly. They are really feeble looking but the taste pretty good.

I hope the incorporation of leafmould etc will make the roots bed more productive next year (well later this year, I suppose).
